I really enjoyed meeting so many of you and I am so excited to start our 2010-2011 school year on Tuesday. If you didn't get a chance to bring supplies, please bring them with you on Tuesday. I also will need the page with the 4 transportation tags first thing in the morning so I know how everyone is getting home on their first 4 days of school.
On Tuesday, parents please feel free to walk your children to our room, take pictures, and celebrate your child's first day in the first grade! We will begin at 7:45 when the tardy bell rings and announcements begin. On Wednesday, I would like to really encourage you to begin letting your children find their own way to our hallway and sit independently outside our room. There will always be a bin of books outside of the door for students to enjoy reading during the morning arrival time. Students are always more than welcome to read their own books as well as long as they are labeled with their first and last name and remain in their backpacks when we enter the classroom.
Independence is such a big part of our first grade year and our journey to educational success. This is a goal I have for all of my students during their first grade year. It is sometimes difficult to let them do things on their own but, I promise parents, the pride they feel is so worth it! They just light up when they have achieved something "all by themselves." Together, we are going to help your child feel this pride and grow as a student each day!
On Tuesday, your child will be bringing home two items:
- their blue Daily Folder and ,
- their red Tuesday Folder.
Please empty the red Tuesday Folder and sign/initial that you have received the information inside. Each Tuesday you will find our weekly newsletter. If you provided me with an email address, I will also email a copy of the newsletter to you. Be sure to read over these for important events and notes on what we are studying. Please return both folders with your child on Wednesday.
Please feel free to email me or call me with any questions or concerns you may have. If you call me, please understand that with such a busy day I will usually not be able to return your phone call until after 3:00 pm.
See you on Tuesday Tiger Team!
Thank you,
Mrs. M
