I'm a poet...

Dear Mom & Dad,

Even though we had a short week this week, there was so much we did.

We really studied poetry this week and each day Mrs. Maggart read us a few poems for different poetry books. Here are just a few she shared with us:

We learned even more about acrostic poems and brainstormed things that made us special and unique. We published our name acrostic poems on our published work wall.

Here are what few look like up close!

I even added an illustration to my acrostic poem.

Mrs. Maggart read a very good book to us that helped us learn a little about a new type of poem: a haiku. The book she read us was titled, Dogku.

We then thought how fun it would be to write a "Tigerku." Here is what our finished poem looked like after we worked together as a Tiger Team to write it. We are such great poets! And, of course, we had to illustrate it!

After learning about haikus, we worked with our buddy to write an October haiku. Here are a few finished ones we hung out in the hall.

This week we have also been studying the weather in science. We made a huge weather chart for our Science wall just like the one I have in my Science Notebook and each day we are graphing the weather and writing observations we are making about the weather.

We talked about cold fronts and warm fronts. We read this book that helped us learn a lot about the weather.
What Will the Weather Be? (Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science 2)
We also read all about clouds. Mrs. Maggart took us outside to look at some clouds and as we got ideas and made observations, we made a class acrostic poem about clouds.

And this was our finished product!

What a great week! Have a super weekend!

Love,
